Moorland Rise

Moorland Rise is a framed and mounted picture made from fused art glass, enamel and silver foil. The image is based on a scene near where I live in the New Forest where there is a relatively steep, heather and bracken covered hill rising up to some ancient earthworks.

The artwork is composed of a sheet of cream coloured glass overlaid with sections of silver foil, small pieces of glass called frits, glass powders and painterly effects created using enamel. The glass and silver elements react with one another in the heat of the kiln to create interesting colours and textures - greens, golds, blues and browns.

The 4.5 inch square piece is then mounted onto cream card in a 10.25 inch square grey wood effect box frame. The frame has a loop on the back to hang it on a wall and also a stand so it can be displayed on a shelf.
